Vietnam: Ceramics export proportion reaches the top in the world

During the period 2016 – 2020, the export market for construction ceramics rose to 9th position globally and was identified by the Ministry of Industry and Trade as having a lot of room for development.

According to statistics from the International Trade Center (ITC), in the period 2016 – 2020, Vietnam is the 9th largest export market for construction ceramics globally, with an average growth rate of 8. 2 years. 

In 2020 alone, Vietnam’s export proportion accounted for 0.9% of the total global export value of construction ceramics and is on the trend of expanding, compared to last year, this number has increased to 0. .1% and 0.2% compared to 2016. Also in 2020, Vietnam’s export of construction ceramics still reached 375.5 million USD, an increase of 9.9% compared to 2019, despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. 

However, Vietnam’s export proportion is still considered very low compared to main export markets such as the EU, China and even regional competitors such as Thailand. That is why Vietnam’s construction ceramics industry is considered to have a lot of room to exploit and develop. 

The construction ceramics market is increasingly expanding

The increasing demand for new materials in construction along with the heat of the real estate market shows that the export potential of construction ceramic products is expanding.

On the market side, according to information from ICT, Technavio’s research shows that the construction ceramics market size is expected to reach 64.52 billion USD, with an average growth rate of 5.72% in the period 2021 – 2025. 

Accordingly, the demand for ceramic products is increasing due to the increase in residential projects and buildings along with increased disposable income, causing consumers to increase spending on ceramic products. On the other hand, when the Covid-19 epidemic situation stabilizes, economic activity recovers, commercial buildings, resort areas and housing operate strongly again, also pushing up the demand for ceramic products. On the government side , representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that it is necessary to build and form centers for processing and standardizing raw materials to promote and develop the construction ceramic industry. This is the driving force to stabilize production and is a premise for developing ceramic products with high added value.

Along with that, planning concentrated ceramic production areas to preserve ceramic production centers and minimize the impact of ceramic production on the environment; Support businesses to improve production conditions to meet world standard needs.
